As Techo International Airport prepares to open on September 9, 2025, Mr. Sar Sokha, Minister of the Interior, inspected the preparations for the implementation of the role of the Immigration Officer. Traveling to the new airport on the morning of September 4, 2025, the Minister inspected key locations such as the departure terminal, check-in location, x-ray inspection location, immigration inspection location (visa exit, exit procedure counter and Smart Gate), priority gate location (Fast Track), food location (Premium Lounge & Food Court) and the gate post office room, CCTV security camera room, passenger exit procedure area, counter and Smart Gate, and inspected the work performance of officials and the status of passengers through CCTV security cameras. In addition, there were also inspections of several other key locations.

It is worth noting that Techo International Airport covers an area of 2,600 hectares in Prek Sleng Commune, Kandal Stung District, Kandal Province and partly in Bati District, Takeo Province. The airport is scheduled to open for business on the morning of September 9, 2025 and officially inaugurate on October 20, 2025 to receive air passengers in and out of Cambodia. The first phase of construction, which is completed in 2025, will cost nearly 2 billion baht, excluding land costs. Phases 2 and 3 will be built at a later date.

Techo International Airport is a 4F-class airport that can accommodate large aircraft such as the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747, and can accommodate up to 15 million passengers per year in phase 1, 30 million in phase 2 by 2030, and approximately 50 million in phase 3 by 2050.
